Message From the Dean

Welcome to the School of Leadership and Professional Development at Mountain State University! At MSU, we recognize that we must determine what constitutes a functioning definition of new leadership and define what leaders do.

Our new School of Leadership and Professional Development will meet these challenges head-on. We will do this through research, in learning communities called cohorts, and through collaboration with organizations. Our action-learning program concentrates on building leaders throughout various levels of leadership in an organization – not simply those in top positions.

In addition to providing state-of-the-art instruction leading to bachelor's and master's degrees, we work with organizations to develop programs specific to their needs. Our goal is to produce scholar-practitioners who can immediately apply their learning on the job and in their personal lives.

Since 1999, we have focused our leadership programs on working adults and have tied our approach to experiential learning. As such, our outreach has become global, not just regional. Our students build a team of regional, national, and international consultants they will rely on to help them reach their vision and achieve their leadership mission for decades to come. MSU believes in the value of lifelong learning and the power of knowledge to transform lives.
